When you're as frustrated as the lady on the left...

  • German might "feel really weird."
  • your Ich-Laut might be kind if "ishy."
  • you likely don't have clarity on the meaning (and context) of your text.

Then it's time for some clear answers and specific instruction.

In your coaching we'll work on your text, your questions, and your German diction technique.

Then after your coaching, you'll sing like the woman on the right.

Confident!

Clear German Sounds = Beautiful German Music

When you know what to do with your lips, teeth, and tongue,
you will free up energy to channel into your performance.

"Working with Nicole is so pleasant! During lessons, she made me feel comfortable with making mistakes and was super supportive. She catches onto both big issues and the tiniest pronunciation problems immediately AND is amazing at getting you to pronounce things correctly! Also, during our lessons she sprinkles in extra knowledge like cultural context and direct translations which made for a fun and fulfilling lesson time. Nicole coached me for a regional competition where I sang a German song. All of the notes for that particular song said that the pronunciation was exceptional! I absolutely contribute that to Nicole’s amazing teaching!"

I'm a Professional Singer and Certified German Instructor

NicoleWarnerHeadshot_eyes5x5.jpgHi, I'm Nicole Warner, mezzo-soprano. My professional singing career began about 25 years ago and I've performed everything from Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium to Mahler's Symphony Nr. 2 and from the Brahms Liebesliederwalzer to Schubert Lieder. I'm a certified instructor for German as a Foreign Language and I taught voice 13 years.

  1. I have over 25 years of experience in performing. (Seriously, I sing a lot of Bach.)
    • I've coached German Lieder,
    • helped professional singers tweak their German arias,
    • written the entire IPA for a German-language role for a young tenor,
    • and I've coached the entirety of the choral parts of the St. John Passion at the Teatro del Lago in Frutillar, Chile.
  2. I'm certified to teach not only German as a Foreign Language, but also English as a Foreign Language.
  3. I have taught thousands of hours of foreign language, both German and English.
  4. From 2003 to 2008 I lived in Germany, traveled widely, and sang with the Gächinger-Kantorei, in addition to solo engagements.
  5. I have an M.M. in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music and a B.A. in Music Performance with a concentration in voice from Augsburg College (now University).
